NHS England Enterprise Agreement

Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA)

The NHS in England has negotiated a central licensing arrangement with Microsoft - called an Enterprise Agreement (EA) - which provides software licences to all personal computers (including desktops and laptops) for specific core Microsoft products across all of the NHS organisations in England including Primary Care Groups, Acute, Ambulance, Community and Mental Health Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities, including Special Health Authorities.


 What products are included under the Microsoft EA:

  • Office System 2007 Professional Plus Edition which includes:Microsoft Office Access 2007  / Excel 2007 / Outlook 2007  / PowerPoint 2007 / Publisher 2007  / Microsoft Office Word 2007 / InfoPath 2007
  • Software Assurance on Windows Vista Business
  • Core Client Access Licensing (CAL) which includes:
  • Windows CAL / Exchange CAL / System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) CAL / SharePoint Standard CAL
  • SQL CAL
  • Desktop Optimization Pack
  • Microsoft Forefront Desktop Client

Please note Server licences are not included as part of this agreement and are required to be purchased separately.

What about Microsoft products not listed above?

Trustmarque Solutions and the NHS Purchase and Supply Agency (PASA) have established a single “Select” agreement ensuring al NHS organisations are guaranteed the lowest volume license pricing available.

NHS Infrastructure Maturity Model (NIMM)

The NIMM model has been developed by NHS Connecting for Health to help benchmark an NHS organisations current infrastructure.

Completion of NIMM is a pre-requisite for obtaining components of the Microsoft Enterprise CAL (eCAL).

The Home User Program:

As an NHS employee, you are now entitled to order a copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Edition as part of this agreement. Apple users please note that you are able to order a copy of Office 2008 for Mac under this scheme, just tick the appropriate section when ordering.

NHS Connecting for Health have added Microsoft IAG licenses to the Microsoft EA, no longer requiring the Client Access Licenses (CALs) to be purchased.
