Trustmarque’s Financial Controller Wins Yorkshire Rising Star Award

On the evening of May 16th 2010 Vicky Godliman, Trustmarque’s Financial Controller, was presented with the Overall Yorkshire Rising Star Award for outstanding achievement in the Financial Sector. Nominated by Paul Ferguson, Trustmarque’s Financial Director, Vicky was recognised not only for the management of Trustmarque’s assets but also for her leadership of the Finance team within the business as a whole.
The overall winner was voted out of 37 finalists from 8 different categories. Other winners in their own category included big names such as ASDA, metal manufactures Firth Rixson and Sheffield Hallam University. Trustmarque also won the Yorkshire £70 - £150m turnover category award.
On presenting the award Emma Roe, of Associate Solicitor Cobbetts LLP recognised that:
“The winner of this award has taken on challenges way beyond the scope of a financial professional. They have developed a highly successful leadership style raising the profile of finance within the business. They made an immediate impact to the financial success of the business at a critical point in the company’s expansion. They describe their ultimate goal as operating in a more strategic financial role”.
The Awards panel took into account both Vicky’s present role, key achievements at Trustmarque, and her career history to date. She comments that:
“The award is a fantastic recognition of the work of Trustmarque’s finance team. In a difficult economic climate we’re proud that we’ve maintained excellent relationships with our suppliers, improving the companies cash collection results and the reduction in levels of aged debt. Leading the finance team has brought with it numerous challenges; we have worked hard to raise the profile of the department and communicate why it is so important to the success of the business overall. There’s no secret formula to my leadership style, my aim is always to create an environment in which people are able to develop their skills, enabling them to overachieve against their expectations and the expectations of the business.”
