SAM: Risk, Resolution and Return - 20th October 2010
Jury's Inn Hotel, Glasgow
An effective Software Asset Management (SAM) policy is based around understanding 3 R's: Risk, Resolution and Return.
The Risks: of non-compliance, of over-spend, of security and of licensing under new technology (such as Software-as-a-service and Virtualisation).
The Resolution: The processes for SAM (ITIL, SOM & Fast), understanding the software vendor's approach and the people (who can help and how to make the most of your reseller).
The Return: including maximising ROI through license re-harvesting and better vendor negotiations and commercial benchmarking.
The event will be split into two sessions, one delivered by Kevin Trinkwon from Trustmarque, and the other by Marlon Oliver from Snow Software.

For the first session we'll be looking at these 3 R's - the in's and outs of SAM. After a short break Marlon Oliver will then be looking at some key questions for organisations dealing with software licences:
- How to audit all devices - Including Virtual and Thin device
- How to find out what Vendors need to know
- How to combine entitlement with install
- How to manage contracts and reporting
Key Benefits of Attending:
